Retreat Day 6: Celestial Body

Today’s 60 minute practice brings you into the emotional counterpart of the spiritual realm: your celestial body. We practice some heart openers and balancing asanas (including handstand), focusing on expansion and broadening awareness. Props needed: one block (or substitute), one wall (I’ll give options, but a little piece of wall is really best for the things we are doing today), and one blanket or towel (to put under the knee—trust me, you’ll want it!). Journal questions: 1) When have you felt “separate” from others? This could be like “left out” or it could be “above” others. Journal about the time and how it felt (you can do this with more than one instance!). 2) What actions did you take that contributed to that? What did others do to contribute to that? 3) Heal the wound (whether or not it “feels” like a wound) of separateness by applying the balm of unconditional love through meditation. Put your hands over your heart and pull in unconditional love from all of your sources, including others doing this retreat with you, and apply the medicine directly to your heart (5 mins or more).
