The concept "wu wei" comes from Taoist idea that translates to "effortless action" and it is the magic ingredient in the Katonah practice. My favorite description of the concept by Sinologist Jean Francois Billeter is a "state of perfect knowledge of the reality of the situation, perfect efficaciousness and the realization of a perfect economy of energy." This concept of wu wei is what we work through the practice today and we bring it into our balancing poses so that we can just hold them forever! And taking the concept off the mat allows us to find the balance of effort and grace in our lives. Suggested props: blanket, blocks, strap
